HOW TO MAKE ROASTED RED PEPPERS

HOW TO MAKE A RECIPE FOR ROASTED RED PEPPERS

You can easily make your own tasty, sweet, and smokey roasted red peppers at home. Just a few common kitchen equipment and 1 ingredient are needed for this simple recipe.

INGREDIENTS

4 big to medium red bell peppers

INSTRUCTIONS

Slice each bell pepper in half lengthwise by gliding your knife around it (as you would an avocado). Remove the core, any seeds, and any white pepper bits from the other half of the peppers using your hands after twisting one-half away from the core. the remaining peppers, repeat the process.

Place the peppers cut side down on a baking sheet and broil. The peppers should be broiled in the oven for 15 to 25 minutes, with the door slightly ajar, or until most of the skin is blackened and some of the skin has begun to puff up or peel away. Depending on your oven, the cooking time will vary; it is recommended to begin monitoring the peppers at the 15-minute point and keep doing so every 2 minutes or so.

Using kitchen tongs or two forks, gently transfer the hot peppers to a resealable bag. After tightly sealing the bag, let the peppers out for 7 to 10 minutes to steam and continue to soften.

Peel and Slice: Take the peppers out of the plastic bag and use a spoon to peel the skin from the outside. You may also just use your hands because the skin ought to fall off very readily. After discarding (or composting) the skins, cut the peeled peppers into 1/4-1/2′′ strips.

Store: To keep roasted red peppers fresh for up to 10 days, place them securely closed in a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid.
