Boba is a milk tea that includes tapioca balls or pearls with fruit flavors. Bubble Tea is another name for boba tea.

Boba (or Bubble) tea is a milk and tea-based iced tea from Taiwan with chewy tapioca pearls at the bottom.

I still strongly urge you to try Boba tea even if you don't enjoy iced tea. Despite being from the South and being expected to enjoy iced tea, I don't. This prevented me from for a long time from trying bubble tea.

But I did sample milk tea boba at last.

And

I cherish Boba tea.

That's how much I adore milk tea boba, but I detest iced tea.

Actually, I have a slight obsession with tapioca pearls. They do prepare my boba tea.

How do Tapioca Pearls work?

The translucent, delicious tapioca pearls (or balls) are made from tapioca, a starch that is derived from the cassava root. They are most frequently referred to as boba or pearls when used as a component in bubble tea.

Usually, sugar syrup is used to soak them, making them sweet and chewy.

Describe Milk Tea.

As I indicated before, milk tea is precisely what its name implies: tea with milk. It appears that milk tea is/was often eaten in Taiwan. What a brilliant idea it was to combine milk tea with boba.

A great union!

Which type of tea?

Typically, black tea or green tea and milk are the ingredients that make up milk tea or Boba tea. Commonly, honey or brown sugar syrups are used to sweeten the milk. It is entirely up to you whether to use black tea or green tea; both are OK.

The fastest and simplest way to prepare milk tea boba is in an instant pot, however, you can also make it on the stove or in a crock pot.

Recipe for Milk Tea Boba in the Instant Pot (makes 32 ounces of milk tea)

10 minutes for preparation

15 minutes for cooking

Ingredients:
  • a milk tea
  • 8 bags of Earl Grey tea
  • 4 cups of liquid
  • milk, 3/4 cup
Instructions:

2 cups of water and the boba pearls should be added to the instant pot. Lock the pressure valve and the lid. Pressure Cook for five minutes on high. When completed, manually release the pressure.

Pearls are rinsed and drained, and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar are added. Stir.

Add 4 cups of water and tea bags to the instant pot and set it to sauté. Remove tea bags after bringing tea to a boil. The remaining brown sugar and milk should be mixed into the tea.

Mix the tea over ice in a glass with 1/4 to 1/2 cup of pearls.

To make your boba tea sweeter, add extra brown sugar.

If you like a milder tea flavor, use only 6 or 7 tea bags; if you prefer a stronger tea flavor, add 9 or 10.

Try out many pearl varieties, such as these diverse flavored tapioca pearls.

This boba tea may be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. It's the ideal drink to prepare ahead of time.

Because I enjoy the deeper flavor of brown sugar milk tea, this recipe calls for brown sugar.

Boba Tea Accoutrements

Glasses are a matter of personal taste, although I like clear frames. See the pearls, please.

Purchase straws that are sufficiently broad to allow the pearls to be sucked up through them. Also essential are reusable straws.

Although there are several IPs available, this one is my all-time favorite.

Therefore, try this simple recipe for milk tea, milk tea boba, boba tea, or bubble tea. I believe that out of all the boba milk tea recipes available, you'll keep returning to this one. But I'm going to probably try boba strawberry milk tea next.

Make your own milk tea boba instead of purchasing an expensive one.
