Instant Pot Shimp, Frozen
Frozen shrimp prepared quickly in an instant pot! The simplest supper ever is this one!
Do you have a package of shrimp frozen in your freezer? You have dinner ready! Put the frozen shrimp packet into your Instant Pot, and in only 5 minutes, you'll have a pot of perfectly cooked shrimp! Lacking an Instant Pot?
Even though frozen shrimp may be thawed under running water, having the option to do so in the Instant Pot is convenient. Your frozen shrimp will be cooked in the Instant Pot in addition to being thawed, so they will be sizzling hot! Both fresh and cooked frozen shrimp can be used in this Instant Pot recipe.
Due to how rapidly shrimp cooks, I'm using my "zero minutes" approach, which I also use to quickly cook veggies in the Instant Pot, for frozen prepared shrimp (such as broccoli, cauliflower, and asparagus).
While the Instant Pot is coming to pressure, set the cooking duration to 0 minutes on High pressure, followed by a rapid release (QR), and the shrimp will already be warmed through! In order to get the Instant Pot to pressure as fast as possible, I additionally use 1/2 cup of hot tap water (rather than cold).
I cook frozen raw shrimp for one minute under high pressure, then quickly release the pressure (QR). Pressure-cooking fresh shrimp to perfection just takes a minute!
Thanks to your Instant Pot, you can now prepare a delicious seafood supper in only a few minutes! This shrimp may be tossed with butter and chopped garlic for a fast shrimp scampi served over rice or quinoa or added to salads. Ingredients
- 1 pound of frozen shrimp
- 50 ml of boiling water
Instructions
The Instant Pot should be filled with water and frozen shrimp. Turn the valve to the Sealing position before closing the lid. For frozen cooked shrimp (or frozen raw shrimp), press the "Pressure Cook" or "Manual" button and set the time to ZERO (0) minutes on High pressure.
Quick release (QR) the steam after the Instant Pot has finished cooking.
Serve the shrimp after draining them in a colander.
